Where your student is going — and how they get there with more than one option.
Certified Educational Planner leaders and former college admissions professionals work from real aptitude data, not guesswork, starting years before the application is due.

Families rarely arrive asking for a service. They arrive with a situation.
“She's a junior and we haven't started anything.”
There is more time than it feels like. A real plan takes the panic out of it, and panic drives bad decisions in this process.
“We don't know if college is even the right path.”
That is a fair question, and it deserves data, not opinion. An aptitude assessment answers it better than anyone's instinct, including ours.
“He has the grades but no idea what he wants to do with them.”
Almost every seventeen-year-old is in this position. The work is to narrow it down honestly rather than pick something that sounds impressive.
“We're worried about what this is going to cost.”
Financial strategy is part of admissions strategy, not a separate conversation that happens after you fall in love with a school.
What we actually do.
Admissions Strategy
Individual advising from list development through submitted application. Which schools, in what order, under which application plan — and the judgment calls that actually move outcomes: early decision, whether to disclose a diagnosis, when a reach is worth the slot.
Essays and Application Support
We coach, question, and edit. The words are the student's, always. Our job is to help them find something true to say and then say it well, which is harder and more valuable than producing polished prose.
SAT/ACT Strategy
Diagnostics first, then a plan: which test suits this student, when to sit it, how many times, and — a question too few counselors ask — whether testing serves them at all given the schools on their list.
Career, Aptitude and Interest Analysis
We use YouScience to measure what a student is genuinely good at, not only what they believe they like. When possible, we begin in middle school, giving us years instead of months to use the results and make a difference.
Scholarship and Financial Aid
FAFSA, Georgia Futures, institutional aid, and the important questions families may not know to ask: which schools provide the best financial opportunities for their student, and which options make the most sense for their goals and budget.
School Placement and Transitions
We work with students navigating independent and boarding school placements, transfers, and transitions between schools under difficult circumstances.
When to start.
Strengths, interests, and direction take shape early.
Academics, leadership, and career interests align to real goals.
Personalized admissions, testing, and scholarship strategy.
Students leave with confidence, options, and a plan they own.
Many families begin working with us in eleventh grade, and we can provide meaningful guidance at any stage. When families connect with us in eighth or ninth grade, we simply have more time to help students explore their goals, build on their strengths, and make thoughtful choices throughout their high school experience.
The team around your student.
Successful college planning often depends on factors beyond the application process itself. A student who struggles with starting tasks may need additional structure and support to complete applications, while a student with an unaddressed reading difficulty may face challenges with testing that preparation alone may not fully address.
At SEC the college counselor, the executive function coach, and the academic specialists are the same team working from the same plan and the same information about your student. You are never the one relaying messages between specialists.
A note on where students apply.
Our focus is on finding the educational and financial fit that best supports each individual student. For some students, that may be a highly selective school; for others, a different path may better align with their goals, needs, and circumstances. We provide thoughtful, transparent guidance to help families consider both the educational opportunities and financial investment of each option.
“Couldn't we just use AI for this?”
A fair question, and we get it often. A great deal of what college counseling used to consist of is now free — lists, deadlines, FAFSA explanations, essay outlines. We are not going to pretend otherwise. What AI cannot do is know your child over four years, make a sixteen-year-old actually do the thing, or be accountable when the plan does not work. We use AI every day to make our counselors better, and we teach students to use it well, because roughly half of them already use it in their college search whether or not anyone has shown them how.
We use AI as a tool that makes our counselors faster and our students more capable. We do not use it to replace the judgment, accountability, or relationship that makes counseling work.
Build the plan while there's still time to use it.
A private consultation is a real working session, not a sales call. We will talk through where your student is, what is actually getting in the way, and what a plan would look like.
