Cherie Pelli
MA, Slavic Linguistics · Orton-Gillingham certified
LD, ADHD and Executive Function Coach
Cherie has spent thirty years teaching students with dyslexia to read.
Cherie has taught children with learning disabilities and executive function challenges for more than thirty years, working on reading, language and social skills with students from elementary school through college. She is certified in the Orton-Gillingham multisensory approach, the structured literacy method with the strongest evidence base for dyslexia.
She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Wheaton College in Russian language and literature, and holds a master's degree in Slavic linguistics from Cornell. Earlier in her career she was dean of freshmen and a houseparent at the Forman School, and coached volleyball, soccer and cross-country. The linguistics background is not incidental — teaching a dyslexic student to read is fundamentally a problem of language structure, and she approaches it that way.
